Enjoy a short weekend getaway- tips for trips to Bangkok
Thailand Tourism - Traveling to Bangkok, only 1.5 hours flight from Singapore. Frequent flights and affordable air tickets are luring many Singapore locals for a short weekend getaway.
I am certainly not an exception, let me introduce some of the Bangkok great finds and sights.
Thailand is a Buddhism country rich in culture. Take a cultural tour at some of their temples. Remember to remove your shoes and do not use take photos when you visit the temples.
The Grand Palace is a must to visit. Take a boat ride along the Chao Praya River and get off at the Grand Palace jetty. I learned that for a single trip costs only 25 baht so unless you intend to take the full day package, you do not need to buy the full day pass at the tourist information counter, just board the boat and pay to the boat attendant.
Many Guide Books for Thailand tourism introduce certain popular places such as Pratunam Market, Chatuchuk Weekend Market for shopping. In my opinion and after various trips to Bangkok myself, you can shop ANYWHERE.
You can find shops and push carts at anywhere, along the alley ways, in between buildings and sometimes, below the bridges or the elevated BTS rails. You will be a amazed at the variety of merchandises they offer. So, be adventurous and I am sure you will have a wonderful shopping experience.
The heat of Bangkok, especially around mid-day can be quite unbearable, go to the shopping complexes which are fully air-conditioned. MBK, Siam Discovery, Siam Square, Pratuwan Princess are my favorite.
This is a MUST do activity that you cannot miss, Thai Massage is reputable and after a long day of shopping and sightseeing, you should pamper yourself.
Prices varied depending on the shops, however, the more expensive ones do not guarantee quality and the cheaper ones are not necessarily bad. My pick will be Body Works and they have many outlets around Bangkok, cheap and good!
